Initiative of Feeding America is the largest charity dedicated to ending hunger
Savannah, GA (RestaurantNews.com) Savannah’s iconic and world-renowned candy store franchise River Street Sweets recently celebrated its 50th anniversary with a generous contribution of $14,5541 to Kids Café, an initiative of Feeding America. A check presentation ceremony was held at America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia in Savannah and highlighted the company’s unwavering commitment to philanthropy. River Street Sweets co-owners and siblings Jennifer and Tim Strickland said the family-owned business had been fortunate to share their success with community organizations such as Kids Café over the years.
“We’ve been blessed to share our delectable Southern treats with visitors from all over the world at our stores in Savannah and many other locations,” said Jennifer Strickland. “Our family believes success is sweeter when you give back, and Kids Cafe is a wonderful program that we’re thrilled to support.”
This contribution marks the seventh consecutive year that River Street Sweets has supported Feeding America and its hunger relief initiatives. With the company’s contribution, a total of 72,755 meals will be provided to children and families facing hunger. In total, River Street Sweets has helped to provide more than 238,000 meals.

Last year, River Street Sweets, River Street Sweets•Savannah’s Candy Kitchen, and Savannah’s Candy Kitchen collectively celebrated National Pralines Day with an in-store and online promotion, providing an impressive 52,590 meals. This year, they have surpassed that benchmark by nearly 40%.
