Recipe Notes:
This dish is high in protein and if you use turkey sausage you lower the fat content. So if you are looking for a higher protein meal, this is a good one. Chicken and shrimp are loaded in protein and so is turkey sausage. It’s an easy switch and we make it that way a lot.
- Use turkey sausage to make this dish lower in fat and higher in protein.
- Serve this over cauliflower rice if you want to make it lower carb
- You could also use chicken sausage or broccoli rice
Don’t be afraid to really pour on the spices, because this dish is best when you have lots of flavor. The chicken, shrimp and sausage really come together with the spices. Then when you serve it over rice the rice soaks up the juices so you want lots of flavoring. This is definitely a dish you can work with!
What do you serve this Jambalaya with?
This one pot meal is fine on it’s own but if you want to serve something with is, these are always a hit! This dish is also great for a family gathering, makes a lot and is always a hit.
“Made this for my adult children the other day. They loved it! I prepped the ingredients the night before. That day I just threw it all together and turned the crockpot on! The only change I made was swapping out the cayenne pepper for slap ya mamma seasoning. This recipe is a keeper!” – Sheree
