We Tried Costco’s New “Incredible” Food Court Item That’s Replacing the Churro
One of the greatest parts about heading over to Costco (besides the abundance of free samples) is their stellar food court. However, their latest new addition has mixed reviews because it has replaced a fan-favorite treat.
The rumors are true: Costco’s beloved $1.49 twisted churros are being discontinued and replaced with the $2.49 Double Chocolate Chunk Cookie. In fact, many Costco members have already seen the changes reflected in their local warehouses, including our resident Costco correspondent who found the treat to be a little crunchier than anticipated.
“The cookie was warm and fragrant, with the buttery and chocolatey aroma you’d expect from a homemade cookie,” they commented. “And the fact that you can smell it in as large a space as a Costco warehouse is no small feat. The chocolate chunks were melty as I broke into it but the cookie was crunchier than I anticipated. I suspect that it had something to do with getting one of the final cookies from a batch — freshly baked cookies would likely have more chew than crunch. At 3 1/2 inches in diameter, these cookies are perfect for sharing.”
The cookie is advertised as an all-butter dessert with bittersweet and semisweet chocolate served warm. However, the dessert is much larger than a standard cookie and comes in at 750 calories. “The cookies were buttery — as advertised — and the bittersweet chocolate flavor took center stage,” our resident Costco correspondent continued. “Other than its size, there’s nothing extraordinary about this cookie, but sometimes a comforting classic is exactly what you want. My only suggestion: offer cold cups of milk for dipping.”
Some tasters on Reddit reported feeling sick after devouring the cookie, but according to the most upvoted comment, “That’s usually what happens when you consume 750 calories of fat and sugar in 5 minutes.” Your best bet is to enjoy it in moderation or share with a friend because sometimes, a gooey chocolate chip cookie is the pick-me-up we all need.
