We Love This Wine Opener So Much That It Dethroned Our Previous Favorite
After opening 50 bottles of wine to test wine openers, we found that one emerged as the easiest and most efficient to use, so much so that it dethroned our previous favorite. Opening a bottle of wine should be quick, painless, and mess-free, which the Pulltaps waiter’s corkscrew can achieve in one fell swoop. It’s comfortable to hold and securely pulls out corks so you can do more celebrating and less wiggling. (Heads up: It’s selling out fast, so you might want to grab one soon.)
Pulltaps Waiter’s Corkscrew
Why It Won Our Review
A waiter’s corkscrew is the classic model you’ll see in the hands of sommeliers and bartenders. It works by twisting the worm (the spiral bit) into the cork, then pulling it out using the fulcrums and handle. Its strength is in its compact size and efficient process, which we experienced with the Pulltaps waiter’s corkscrew. It performed so well during our tests that it surpassed our previous top pick, the Trudeau turbo double lever corkscrew.
The Pulltaps model also has a serrated blade that slices smoothly through the foil at the tops of bottles. Most importantly, it has evenly spaced fulcrums which offer plenty of leverage to pull out a cork, even for smaller hands. The handle has a nice curve to it, making it comfortable to maneuver over the top of a bottle, and at 3.1 ounces, it’s among the lightest of the wine openers we tested. It also has nine worm curves—a decent amount to burrow deep into a cork so it doesn’t break. When folded up, the corkscrew can easily fit into an apron pocket, so you know it’ll be a cinch to store.
Before your home is overrun with holiday guests in need of a wine opener, grab this one while it’s still in stock. If you’d rather a lever-style corkscrew, we recommend the Rabbit Original lever wine opener, which smoothly removes corks with impressive ease.
