Making homemade dumplings is a labor of love (the wrappers don’t make or fold themselves). A bag of really good frozen ones means we can skip all the prep and focus on the love. Frozen dumplings are the answer to pretty much any dinner dilemma (have you ever made dumpling soup?!), so much so that even chefs swear by them.

That’s right, most chefs aren’t rolling their own dumplings every night either. To find the best store-bought option, I asked a few of my chef friends for their favorite frozen dumpling brand. Their unanimous pick? Bibigo Dumplings.

The Best Frozen Dumplings to Buy, According to Chefs

“A lot of frozen dumpling brands have wrappers that are too thick and dry, but Bibigo is just right,” says Sevina Lee, a private yacht chef. “When you steam them or fry them, they become slightly translucent,” and there’s no skimping on what’s inside either, whether it’s vegetable, chicken and vegetable, and pork and vegetable. In fact, Lee says the “wrapper-to-filling ratio is spot-on.”

Ratthee Rueangpisansin, restauranter of New York’s Sappe and Soothr, has a savvy friend to thank for his Bibigo discovery. “I’d never had them before until my friend made them in an air fryer one late night,” he says. “I was so surprised at how good they were — and that they came frozen!”

And then Shin Min Cheol, executive chef at Genesis House NYC, a modern Korean restaurant, agrees Bibigo dumplings — especially the Pork & Vegetable ones — are the best you can buy. In fact both Shin and Ratthee rattled off a list of their very appetizing qualities: They’re “easy to make,” a “quick finger food,” “cheap,” “tasty,” “comforting,” and, best of all, “found easily in grocery stores.”
