Trader Joe’s Now Has a One-Item Limit on This Popular $3 Frozen Find
In fact, one Trader Joe’s frozen find has become so popular that locations in the Bay Area have put a limit on how much shoppers can buy. The Frozen Dutch Griddle Cakes have gone viral on social media as people are making their own version of the beloved McDonald’s McGriddle breakfast sandwiches. The concoction is basically a bacon, egg, and cheese between two small pancakes rather than bread.
Trader Joe’s griddle cakes are a bit thicker than your standard pancake, making them perfect for a sandwich. The brand compares them to a crumpet, a small spongy bread favored in the United Kingdom but with a chewier texture. Made by a supplier in the Netherlands, each griddle cake is ready to eat after defrosting for a few minutes in the oven, toaster, or microwave.
The frozen box comes with eight pieces for $3.49 per package, but with their popularity, shoppers were stocking up. California stores now have a limited supply and have capped customers at just one box per grocery trip. This includes the stores in Alameda, Castro Valley, Menlo Park, San Jose, Sunnyvale, and Walnut Creek. However, locations in Berkeley and Palo Alto told SFGATE that while they don’t have a limit, they only receive one case per day with 18 packages, so they sell first-come, first-serve.
If you happen to spot these in your local store, you may want to give them a try while you can. You don’t know the next time you’ll see them.
