About a year ago, a Trader Joe’s opened down the street from my apartment. This was exciting for a lot of reasons, but one of the most important being that I could now get pre-made pizza dough easily. I love a good homemade pizza night. Because I live in an apartment, I just used my oven to bake up my pies. And while my oven does a fine job, I knew that a pizza oven would make it way better. My fiancé’s uncle has a full-blown pizza oven in his backyard, and it showed me how much better homemade pizza can get. But because I live in a high-rise apartment in New York City, my hopes for achieving that same outcome at home were not high. Well, until now, that is.

I recently got to test out Granitestone’s Piezano Pizza Oven — yep, the pizza oven you’ve probably seen circulating around TikTok. Originally I assumed this appliance would make good pizza, but probably wouldn’t be anything special. I’m happy to report I was wrong. This pizza oven makes pies that will rival your favorite pizza shop’s — and quicker than you can get delivery!

What Is Granitestone’s Piezano Pizza Oven?

This brilliant pizza oven is your hack for making amazing pizza at home. Yes, you can make pizza in your regular oven, but as someone who’s done that quite a bit, I can tell you this machine is different. It can — and will — heat up to 800°F, so it can mimic (the milder temps of) a wood-fired pizza oven. Because of this, your results will be way better than what your standard oven could do. Not to mention, it cooks your pies super fast (but more on that later!). And before you ask, yes, it is meant to be used inside your home.

The Piezano has a heating element both on the top and the bottom. So to use it, all you’ll do is turn both the Top and Bottom knobs on the outside of the appliance to 800°F to warm it up for 10 minutes or so. After that, it’s ready to go! You do have to watch your pizza as it cooks to make sure it doesn’t puff up and hit the top heating element. But given that the pizzas I tested cooked in 5 minutes or less, I didn’t find that to be too much of an issue. You’ll cook your pizza on the included pizza stone, which you preheat with the oven.

Why I Love Granitestone’s Piezano Pizza Oven

Well first off, a couple of folks in the office who got a slice of the pizza this oven made noted that it tasted professional. It gets the crust nice and crisp and the cheese bubbly and a little brown like your favorite pizza shop’s. It even imparted a slight char on the crust, which I personally love and can’t achieve with my standard oven.

When it comes to working with the machine itself, I found there is a little bit of a learning curve (definitely make sure there’s plenty of flour on the peel so the pizza doesn’t stick!). But once I learned my lessons with that initial pizza, I found it pretty easy to use. And one thing I loved about this appliance? It’s so speedy. In 10 minutes, it can heat itself to 800°F, making it ready for your pizza. Then once I put the uncooked pie on the pizza stone inside the machine, it took between three to five minutes to cook all the way through, depending on the size of the pizza. Given that I prepped my pizza while it was preheating, I had a crispy, gooey pizza ready in around 15 minutes. Tasty and quick is my ideal dinner situation.

While pizza isn’t the only thing you can cook in the Piezano Pizza Oven, frankly I think it’s worth buying for its pizza cooking capabilities alone. It makes seriously delicious pizza on par with my favorite local shop’s (and I live in New York City, so that’s a serious statement). And as if that wasn’t good enough, it cooks up pizza so fast that I could have a freshly made pie on my countertop before I even finished plugging my order into my delivery app.
