Although I usually opt to have my groceries delivered, I make it a point every month or so to stroll through Costco. On one of my recent trips, I scored big time. I got all the hosta, astilbe, and lily of the valley bulbs I need for my dream shade garden I’m planting this spring, and I also found a set of luxuriously fancy mugs that have single-handedly changed my mornings for the better.

It was exactly the kind of find I hope to come across on my rare in-person Costco trips — a well-known, high-quality brand at an unbeatable price. In this case, it was four beautiful Bodum mugs. They’re double-walled, clear, thin, and delicate in appearance, but also supremely practical: They keep drinks hot (or cold, which makes them so versatile!) far longer than even diner-style, thick-walled mugs. These particular mugs are tall latte mugs, so they hold more coffee than most of my regular mugs, too — 13.5 ounces to be exact.

I snagged these mugs so fast, especially when I saw the price. They were only $19.99 for four, coming out to a jaw-dropping $5 each! While Costco only has the deal in-store (or via local delivery), you can find the same mugs at Walmart for $9 each, or opt for a similar Bodum mug for about $11 each from Amazon.

As for how they’ve transformed my mornings? Let me count the ways.

First, having my coffee stay hot longer in and of itself is a game-changer. As a mom of five, I hardly ever enjoy a warm final sip during our morning hustle and bustle out the door. With these Bodum mugs, my “bottom-of-the-mug” coffee is not only warm, but still hot! It’s so comforting and makes my morning ritual more enjoyable than ever. Not only that, but the fact that my mug holds more coffee helps me stay present. Rather than running downstairs to refill my mug of coffee that’s going to get lukewarm fast, I can stay upstairs to do my daughter’s hair or remind my boys to make their beds (a near-daily occurrence).

In addition, because the mug is larger, I’ve been adding a vanilla protein shake to my morning cup (my current favorite is Nurri vanilla, which, incidentally, is also available at Costco!). My nutritionist has been urging me to do this so I can start the morning off with protein even if I don’t eat right away, and also to help me meet my daily protein goals. While I typically drink my coffee black because I don’t like to dilute it, with the taller mug, however, I can add a significant amount of protein shake while still having the kick of strong coffee flavor come through with every sip. (And I usually warm it up in my milk frother so it doesn’t cool my coffee down.)

These stunning Bodum mugs have such an impact on the start of my day, and were so cost-effective that I find myself wanting to go back for another set!
