A stand mixer is a great tool for any home baker—it makes easy work of whipping cream, mixing batter, or creaming butter. But even a decent stand mixer has its limitations when it comes to strenuous tasks; stiffer doughs can wear down a motor or even put enough pressure on tilt-head models to loosen their lock switch. That’s why we love the KitchenAid Pro 600—it’s got a sturdy bowl lift, powerful motor, and well-designed attachments that make it effective at tasks easy and strenuous alike.

Why It Won Our Review

The KitchenAid Pro 600 has long been our favorite stand mixer, and when we recently tested a variety of makes and models, it still came out on top. The key is its 575-watt motor, which powers through kneading tougher doughs and can beat a perfectly peaked meringue. We also love its attachments which perfectly scrape the bottoms and sides of the bowl, leaving no stone, er, streak of flour untouched. The bowl-lift also makes it super easy to add ingredients or scrape down the sides mid-mix, and it offers more stability than tilt-head mixers. The only downside is this is a big machine—at nearly 17 inches high and 23 pounds, it takes up a lot of counter space. And while this sale only applies to refurbished models, we have no doubt of their quality or performance. They come with a 90-day free return or replacement policy, and models are guaranteed to run like new through the Walmart Restored Sellers and Suppliers Program. Considering new Professional Series 600s retail for $550, it’s also a steal.

FAQs

Is it worth it to buy a refurbished KitchenAid stand mixer?

Yes—KitchenAid stand mixers are durable machines, and we think refurbished models can be a good deal. KitchenAid offers it’s own refurbished program, where each machine is signed off on by the technician who restored it. The Walmart Restored program also has strong criteria to qualify as “refurbished” on their website, complete with a 90-day free return or replacement policy.

How big is the capacity of the KitchenAid Pro 600?

The KitchenAid Pro 600 has a six-quart bowl that can hold up to 14 cups of flour. It’s large enough to accommodate a double batch of most recipes and can even mix larger batches of bread dough at once. Even with its deep bowl, however, the attachments for the Pro 600 are aligned to perfectly scrape the sides and bottom.
