When I was growing up, my family always kept our butter in a butter dish. But for whatever reason, I never got one for myself when I moved into my own place in New York City. Until recently — six years later to be exact — I simply kept my butter in its store-bought packaging. I decided I need to make a change, and thus began my hunt for the perfect butter dish. Somewhere along the way, I started leaning toward butter keepers over dishes, since they result in readily available, spreadable butter right on your countertop.

At long last, I found what is, quite possibly, the cutest butter vessel ever. Anthropologie just dropped the Eden Stoneware Butter Keeper, and it could not be prettier. Naturally, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it, and its spring-inspired design looks just as cute on my countertop as I thought it would. But my favorite part is that I don’t have to wait forever for my butter to soften after taking it out of the fridge anymore. Now, I can just open my butter keeper and immediately slather it all over my toast, waffles, and more.

What Is Anthropologie’s Eden Stoneware Butter Keeper?

The Eden Stoneware Butter Keeper is the perfect way to infuse a little springtime feel into my kitchen. I know it’s technically still winter, but I’m so ready for it to warm up! So why not welcome in the season a little early and brighten up my kitchen? This gem has a wide base covered in greenery motifs with little bees flying all around, and its lid is decorated with stunning flowers, too! I thought it was cute when I first saw it on Anthropologie’s website, but in person it’s somehow even more adorable.

Beyond the design, this butter keeper is a great way to have spreadable butter all the time. When you pull the lid out of the base, you’ll find a cavity that’s meant to be filled with softened butter. But after I did that, I wasn’t exactly sure what to do next. Anthropologie’s website didn’t exactly tell me how to use it, so I took to the internet to understand how to use a butter keeper properly. (The Kitchn even has it’s own butter keeper guide, FYI!)

I’ve read some different suggestions on how much water to use in the base, but I decided to fill it with enough water to cover the butter in the lid just a little bit. It’s worked great so far! After doing that, I just change out the water a couple of times a week and replenish the butter as needed.

Why I Love Anthropologie’s Eden Stoneware Butter Keeper

I had been going back and forth on the idea of a butter bell for a while, but the design of Anthropologie’s Eden Stoneware Butter Keeper was what inspired me to finally go for it. I know I’ve mentioned how beautiful it is a lot already, but truly, that’s one of the aspects I love most about it. Its appearance is important because I see it every time I walk into my kitchen — and it brings me so much joy!

Its cute look isn’t its only selling point, though. I also love that it keeps my butter nice and soft, so I can use it to spread butter on my toast or add to my bakes at a moment’s notice. As a home baker, one thing I’m particularly bad at is remembering to leave a stick of butter outside of the fridge for a bit beforehand. So now, when I need softened butter for making cookies, I can use some of what’s in my butter keeper! It holds about a stick-and-a-half of butter, which is more than I could put in a standard butter dish.

Now that I have my sweet Eden Butter Keeper, I honestly see no need to invest in a butter dish, too. This does the job and more, keeping my butter at the perfect consistency for spreading onto bread and mixing into cookie dough. Considering that and its beautiful design that I’ll love before, during, and after spring? $24 is a steal!
