Costco Is Giving Away Tote Bags, But This One Condition Has Shoppers Furious
There’s nothing like a fun new deal that will have you getting in your car and driving to Costco. There’s always some crazy discount happening at the warehouse that we love to take advantage of, and one of their most recent eye-popping deals is a free tote bag. Not just one of those cotton tote bags, but a sturdy bag with a zipper and outside pockets that keep your Costco items cool, even when it’s warm. But there’s one big catch to receive this free bag, and Costco shoppers are not happy about it.
In order to snag these new bags, shoppers have to apply for a Costco Anywhere Visa by Citi before June 23. Once shoppers apply, they are able to snag one of these free gifts — until supplies last, of course. The deal is only eligible for applications submitted in person, and they aren’t available for online applications at this time.
While this seems like a pretty sweet deal for anyone looking to get a new credit card, current shoppers who are already cardholders aren’t able to take advantage of the free gift. “What about us existing card holders?” shoppers comment on Costco’s post about the deal. “Can I cancel my card and get a new one to receive the bag?” asks another. “They had nothing cool when we became members, not fair.”
Some shoppers are inquiring about simply purchasing the bag, whether they are a card holder or not. “Imagine all the Combo Pizza you could carry in those bags!”
Will Costco listen to these shoppers’ inquiries and start selling these bags in stores? Maybe they should take a note out of Trader Joe’s book and start selling mini tote bags. It seems everyone wants a mini version of their favorite bags these days.
