❤️WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE

They are the perfect appetizer for any event or gathering. We can eat them anytime. The sauce we made goes great with them. These come together really quickly and are always a hit! These are very versatile and you can add heat if you like. Check out the SWAPS below for ideas on how to switch these up.

🍴KEY INGREDIENTS

  • Pork sausage
  • Bisquick
  • Mexican Cheese
  • Cream cheese, softened
  • Green chiles
  • Cumin
  • Smoked paprika
  • Salsa Verde Dipping Sauce Ingredients needed:
  • Sour cream
  • Salsa Verde

SWAPS

If you want these to have some heat, then get the hot green chilis and use hot Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage. Love really hot, so add some diced jalapenos. We like them without the heat so we use the mild green chilis. You can also use Greek yogurt in the place of the sour cream in the dipping sauce. If you don’t want to make the dipping sauce, you can always dip these in ranch dressing or salsa.

🍽️HOW TO MAKE

The longest part of the prep work in these Mexican sausage balls is letting the cream cheese soften.

COOKING STEPS

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients together and shape into walnut-sized balls.

Step 2
Place on a greased baking sheet and cook for 25-30 minutes. You can eat these without sauce or dip them in the salsa verde dipping sauce. Mix sauce ingredients together and serve.

⭐TIP

When hosting a gathering, you can make 2-3 versions of sausage balls. We like to start with the base of sausage and Bisquick and then divide up and add the other ingredients to make original, Mexican and pimento.
