What’s more exciting than finding out about a new hack at Trader Joe’s? Learning that it’s on a secret list of services provided by one of your favorite grocery stores. I think we’ve all fallen victim to picking up one more frozen food item than expected on a trip to the grocery store, only to realize that you forgot you need to make a couple stops before returning home. How will the food stay frozen?!
Lucky for us Trader Joe’s believers, the friendly grocer will come to the rescue if this is your situation: They sell frozen bottles of water for only 17 cents apiece! Apparently, this isn’t a new service, but thanks to a recent experience shared by blogger Rachel Schneider, the little-known hack is catching renewed attention from shoppers who weren’t so in the know.
During a recent visit, Schneider picked up some of her frozen favorites from TJ’s, but was remiss when she realized that she left her cooler at home. The cashier sprung to action to inform Schneider about the frozen water bottles the store sells expressly for those shoppers with a long drive home.
Schneider purchased a reusable tote and watched as the cashier loaded up all of the frozen items with frozen bottles of water before hitting the road. “When we unzipped our bags five hours later, the water bottles were still frozen, and our groceries were nice and chilly,” she wrote on Cheapism.
As if you needed another reason to love shopping at Trader Joe’s.
