It’s Maharashtra Divas today (1st May).
Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra, has been my home for 25 years.
It wasn’t meant to be so, but life had other plans for me and I ended up being a Mumbaikar.
25 years later, I can confidently say that I would not have it any other way.
I cannot imagine any home other than Mumbai.
I met my wife here. The wind beneath my wings. My ‘lobster,’ in FRIENDS parlance.
Through our union, I got the Mumbai edition of my family.
We have two sons. I am talking of our cats for whom our love knows no end. And then there are the cats around the corner who have became a part of our extended family.
I have made many friends in the city.
First through work.
Then through my blog.
Now through our cats.
I spent the first half of my career here as a market researcher. Learning the ropes of the corporate world.
The second half as food blogger, author, columnist, chat show host, podcaster and youtuber. Living a dream which I could not dream of as a kid as it did not exist then.
We built our home here. Twice. With a few rented apartments in between. Right now we are in the midst of renovating our apartment.
I found faith in the form of Buddhism in Mumbai and this has been the anchor of my life.
Mumbai has filled my life with love ,
joy and happiness…and self doubt, anxiousness and sadness… and above all, Mumbai has taught me how to live.
