SPB Hospitality Raises More Than $1.2 Million With Long-Standing Fire Ale Chief Promotion

Continues support for local firefighters and first responders with fan favorite beer

Houston, TX  (RestaurantNews.comSPB Hospitality, a leading operator and franchisor of full-service dining restaurants, recently had their taps flowing with a fan favorite beer to show their support and gratitude for local firefighters and first responders. Participating Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery, Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant and Big River Grille & Brewing Works locations donated 25-cents from every pint, growler, and pitcher of the limited-time Fire Chief Ale sold and raised additional funds through local tapping parties hosted throughout the promotional period. This year’s initiative raised thousands of dollars that will support various fire-related organizations within their service areas. Since its inception in 1991, the initiative has raised more than $1.2 million.

“We are proud to be giving back to our local firefighters and first responders. With the combination of our passionate team members and loyal guests, we are committed to supporting this cause that has been embedded into our culture for more than three decades,” said Ryan Russell, Director of Communications and Cause Marketing for SPB Hospitality. “Firefighters serve our community each and every day, and this program is a way for us to show our support and gratitude for their unwavering service. We look forward to continuing the tradition of tapping our special Fire Chief Ale and most importantly, giving back to our local communities for many years to come.”

As part of the promotion, each Rock Bottom local brewer created their own spin on the classic Fire Chief Ale recipe. The Fire Chief Ale is a medium-bodied, auburn colored ale that gets its sweet side from the caramel and crystal malts, but also picks up a little toasty character for balance. The hand selected hops from the Pacific Northwest lend a crisp and refreshing finish. The beer is available exclusively during the annual fundraising initiative.

The Fire Chief Ale tapping events started with Rock Bottom in 1991, when it first opened in Denver, and gained such popularity that SPB Hospitality expanded it to include their other brands Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant and Big River Grille & Brewing Works. Each participating restaurant partners with a local fire station or fire-related charity and raises funds for their selected organization.

“Our goal is to reach as many local communities as we can and by leveraging our various brands, we’re able to expand our reach for area firefighters and first responders. Our fans have been such a huge help and we’re incredibly grateful for their support throughout the years,” added Russell.
