Initiative of Feeding America is the largest charity dedicated to ending hunger
“We’ve been blessed to share our delectable Southern treats with visitors from all over the world at our stores in Savannah and many other locations,” said Jennifer Strickland. “Our family believes success is sweeter when you give back, and Kids Cafe is a wonderful program that we’re thrilled to support.”
This contribution marks the seventh consecutive year that River Street Sweets has supported Feeding America and its hunger relief initiatives. With the company’s contribution, a total of 72,755 meals will be provided to children and families facing hunger. In total, River Street Sweets has helped to provide more than 238,000 meals.
“Our River Street Sweets family and our franchise brand are proud to partner with Feeding America and its mission to help children in need,” said co-owner Tim Strickland. “Our 50th anniversary felt like the perfect time to double down on our support of this wonderful organization that brings hope to hungry kids across America.”
Last year, River Street Sweets, River Street Sweets•Savannah’s Candy Kitchen, and Savannah’s Candy Kitchen collectively celebrated National Pralines Day with an in-store and online promotion, providing an impressive 52,590 meals. This year, they have surpassed that benchmark by nearly 40%. A heart for helping people and enriching the lives of customers is why Entrepreneur.com named River Street Sweets the “Second Best Candy Franchise in the Country.”
In addition to its flagship candy stores in Savannah, there are seven franchises operating in Pooler, GA, Key West and Kissimmee, FL, Lancaster, PA, Greenville, SC, Atlanta, GA, and Asbury Park, NJ. All franchise locations are owned and operated with the brand name River Street Sweets • Savannah’s Candy Kitchen, with owners trained and supported by corporate headquarters to guarantee every store serves fresh, handmade Southern candies in a clean, fun environment.
“We will be bringing the River Street Sweets tradition to cities across the country with as many as 20 additional locations planned within the next five years,” Jennifer Strickland confirmed. “We will continue working toward becoming the #1 candy franchise in America while continuing our support of Feeding America and organizations that impact the communities we serve.”
