If you used to frequent the local 99 Cents Only store, then it is time to officially say farewell. As of Wednesday, May 29, Dollar Tree has acquired the leases for 170 different 99 Cents Only store locations across Arizona, California, Nevada, and Texas. The company’s plan is to completely transform these locations into Dollar Tree stores and to sell its own products. In other words, the 99 Cents Only stores will no longer exist.

This news comes right after 99 Cents Only filed for bankruptcy in April and closed 370 locations, and gives Dollar Tree an opportunity to expand its stores without having to pay to build new locations. Most 99 Cents Only store locations are approximately double the size of Dollar Tree, which could make the floor plan different from other usual locations.
