❤️WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE
We love maple and we love brown sugar so this recipe has two of our favorite things. We also love that it makes two loaves so we can share with family and friends. We love to add pecans to the top and feel this adds to the recipe. This can easily be a delicious dessert or served for breakfast with coffee.
🍴KEY INGREDIENTS
- Butter, softened (2 sticks)
- Shortening
- Brown sugar
- White sugar
- Eggs
- Baking soda
- All-purpose flour
- Whipping cream
- Vanilla
- Chopped pecans (add extra for topping of cakes)
Maple Cream Cheese Frosting Ingredients
- Cream cheese softened to room temperature
- Butter, softened
- Powdered sugar
- Maple flavoring
SWAPS
You can easily substitute walnuts for the pecans. If you are not a fan of maple cream cheese frosting, you can add vanilla in place of the maple.
🍽️HOW TO MAKE
This recipe isn’t hard, the most time consuming part is getting out all of your ingredients. I like to have them all out an organized before I start.
COOKING STEPS
Step 1
Cake instructions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter and shortening together with a mixer, gradually adding brown and white sugar until light and fluffy.
Step 2
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine dry ingredients in a separate bowl, once combined, add to the wet mixture a little at a time, alternating between adding milk too.

Once all is combined add the vanilla extract and the pecans. Pour into two greased 9X5 baking pans and cook for 50 minutes and test for doneness. Pound cakes vary; this took one hour for my oven, so start testing at 50 minutes. Let cook and add frosting.
