Is Walmart Open on Thanksgiving Day 2022?

Preparing a Thanksgiving feast is no small feat, and even the best planners forget an ingredient or two. So if you’re in the middle of making mashed potatoes and realize you’re all out of butter or you misread a recipe and don’t have enough Libby’s canned pumpkin to make pumpkin pie (tragic), where do you turn to?

If it’s already Thanksgiving Day and you find yourself dealing with anything similar, Walmart will likely not be open for your last-minute shopping needs. The retailer closed its U.S. stores on Thanksgiving in 2020 and 2021 to thank their associates for their hard work during the pandemic. An official announcement has yet to be made for 2022, but certain locations have already confirmed that their stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Although it’s more than likely that Walmart stores will not be open on Thanksgiving Day, they will be open for their regular hours the day before Thanksgiving (Wednesday, November 23), which is even more reason to get ahead of the Thanksgiving dinner prep before the big day. As always, of course, it’s best to check with your local store for the most up-to-date information on holiday hours.
